POPPY APPEAL 2007
I
am pleased to announce that the amount raised in the Litcham &
District Poppy Appeal was £1,506.04. The area comprises Beeston with
Bittering, the Lexham, Mileham, Stanfield and Litcham. A total of
£1,081.24 was raised by house to house and static collections, £287.30
by church collections and the balance through purchase of wreaths and
donations.
The legion is most grateful to the many people
who have freely contributed their time and money to raising this record
amount, with special thanks to the house to house collectors. Since
this is my last year as poppy organiser I would personally like to
express my gratitude to those concerned who over the years have made my
task so much easier.
Thank you all.
Arthur Clarke, Honorary Area Poppy Organiser.
Annual Report March 2006
Membership of the branch
now stands at 18 and our meetings are hosted by Ron Shaw at Fourways.
During the year we usually have six branch meetings on the third
Monday in the months of January, March, May, July, September and
finally the Annual General Meeting in October. We are actively
seeking for new members and should anyone know of any likely candidates
please contact Arthur Clarke or any member of the legion.
We attend the Armistice Service in November at All Saints Church,
Litcham, followed by the memorial service held at the American
War Memorial in Beeston.
The annual Poppy Appeal takes
place this year during November. Arthur Clarke acts as the area
Area Organiser, with the support of the many other local volunteers,
acting as house to house collectors. There is a current shortage
of collectors in the Beeston and Lexhams area and volunteers to
undertake this task would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested
and would like to have further particular on what is involved
before committing yourself, please contact me on 701 720.
