He's in his early 40s and like most conmen is extremely plausible. If

and/or trading standards.

General Message I am generally reluctant to put out messages
about scams because there are so many of them and a lot cannot
be verified and may be annoying scams in themselves just to frighten
people, but this one happened to a council staff member at Kings
Lynn recently where a plausible male tried to con him out of cash
to get himself home because he said his car had broken down and
when he went back to his office to get cash it was closed. He
said he'd also been to the police, but they couldn't help. Be
very wary of strangers talking to you. There is a program on tv
at the moment which shows how easy it is to be conned in a variety
of ways and is very informative, but the downside is that the unscrupulous
will pick up on these ideas and may try them on the rest of us.

05/02/6 Norfolk Fire Service. Working on the principal that
prevention is better than cure they are undertaking domestic surveys
and installing for free, where they think appropriate, 10 yr smoke
alarms, which do not require battery replacement. They obviously
have limited resources, so initially could I ask you to notify
me of any vulnerable members of your communities who would benefit
most from this service. I need their names and full addresses
so I can send them a short form and SAE, then the fire service
will contact them to arrange an appointment. This could save lives.

acknowledges that there may be some concern amongst the communities
across the county. We would like to re-iterate that Norfolk is
a safe county and that crimes of this nature are rare. security advice...
09/01/06 There has
been audio equipment stolen from a vehicle in Middleton Avenue,
Swanton Morley after the rear windscreen was smashed, and
diesel was stolen from a drilled transit van tank in Norwich Road,
Swanton Morley.There
was 1 damage other in Church Street, Litcham.
A cash machine or ATM was compromised recently at a store
in Thetford by covering the front with a bogus front, be
vigilant when using these, and if suspicious report it to the
shop owners and the police.
SNAP Dances are held all round Norfolk where young people
can go and enjoy a disco for a few hours in an alcohol, drug
and trouble free environment. Thetford and in the near future
Attleborough are seeking helpers at these events which are held
every six weeks from 7.30pm to midnight. Because young people
are involved there is a requirement to have a criminal record
back ground check, which is not as onerous as it sounds, to ensure
their safety . If you want to help in what is proving to be very
successful events and help us and the youth service keep young
people away from crime then give me a call on 01842 222608.
