Film casts do not come any more stellar than this - Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Kathy Burke, John Hurt, Mark Strong and Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock to you).   This is one of the great espionage novels of all time written by John Le Carre - serialised by the BBC in 1979 to great acclaim, but this film nonetheless succeeds on its own right.  This superior spooks stuff about intrigue and betrayal of country, cause, colleagues, lovers and to self  is utterly absorbing.
