NEWS

On Saturday 22nd May I joined fifty or so others in Kerry’s garden for a French wine tasting with a musical trio fundraiser.  It was a warm, sunny afternoon and the food, wine and company was second to none.  They did extremely well - roll on next year.  Well done to you all.
In complete contrast I was helping at the Litcham Fete on 19th June.  What an awful day.  The wind and rain were so bad we could not put some of the gazebos up and had to poach a spot in the refreshment tent for our cake stall.  Despite this the community spirit prevailed and everybody rallied round and we made over £90 for the Jubilee Hall.  Well done Tracey who organised it all so ably!
Looking well ahead: we hope to have our usual Christmas fundraiser in the Jubilee Hall on Saturday 27th November with light lunches and the usual stalls from 11 am to 2 pm.  More about that as time goes by, but it gives you time to collect things for the tombola, raffle and pick-a-peg and for cooking ahead.
As has already been mentioned the Christmas Cribs will be in Church on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th December.  We will have ‘greened’ up by then.  I will organise the refreshments and perhaps a small stall or two, so put all these dates in your diaries please.

This month’s poem comes from a little publication called, “Grace”.
Hope is like a harebell,
Trembling from its birth,
Love is like a rose, the joy of all the earth;
Faith is like a lily, lifted high and white,
Love is like a lovely rose.  The world’s delight
Harebells and sweet lilies show a thornless growth
But the rose with all its thorns excels them both

Thank-yous
You know my beloved Allan passed peacefully away at home with just dear little Chester and I at his side on the 30th May after a long and arduous illness.
He was a loving, funny, charismatic man who bore his lot with dignity and courage, and although he did not attend church was always in the background supporting all I did.
This was reflected in the wonderful attendance at his funeral with over 100 people in church and our clergy.  He would have been chuffed.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the cards, flowers and good wishes you sent me, and the continuing support from loving neighbours.  Almost £600 was collected in church.
My eternal and grateful thanks to Dr Brown, Dr Collett and all the staff at the Health Centre.  Nothing was too much trouble whenever I called them, either on the phone or when calling in at the Surgery.
The NHS are often in the firing line with complaints but it’s not often you hear about all the good that’s done.  Thank you all very much.
Until next month, Love and God Bless, June

We would like to say a very big THANK YOU to everyone that helped make our Dad’s “send off” a truly memorable one, he will be greatly missed.  Also to Barry and Chrissy at Longham White Horse; the food for the Wake was wonderful and the Chinese Lantern such a lovely touch.  Oh how Dad would have loved it!
Once again, from the bottom of our hearts
THANK YOU
Annette and Paul Bevan
